Did you install the Nero ASPI driver?

Anyway, if you are happy where you are now, no need.

While browsing this forum I came across your post, it doesn't really warrant another thread but please,
What is an ASPI driver and what does it do?
    In laymans terms please.
My recently bought DVD rewriter (Liteon) has been very fussy over which format of disk it prefers and when checking Nero Info Tool it states no Aspi installed.
    Is this a problem?
BTW its XP and I've gone back to Nero6. TIA.
    Move along, nothing to see.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I didn't make it clear originally but CD's have been fine, DVD's have been a problem, only liking -r/rw, when it should do most types.
Your link mentions not recognising disks so will try the drivers in their recommended order or should I go straight to the Nero one?
It can't do any harm can it?

I had a problem like this when my old DVD writer broke. I replaced it with a new drive, but then found the version of Nero I had did not support the new model DVD writer. I would have had to upgrade to get the latest version of Nero for this to work. Instead I have started using the free CDBurnerXP Pro, which works well and costs nothing.

Use the Nero driver, as you are using Nero.
