Iphone calendar/Google Calendar syc

Hi,
I am trying to get my iphone calendar to syc with my google calendar.
I can't seem to set it up so that if i make a entry into the iphone calendar it shows up in my gmail calendar. And if i make a entry into my gmail calendar it shows up in my Iphone calendar.

Surely it's possible.

In settings/mail,contacts,accounts/your Google account is the calendar option def selected?

In calendar itself in calendars at the bottom is there a tick against the Google calendar?

There is also an official Google calendar app in the App Store.

Google calendar wasn't ticked. It's working fine now.

The Iphone calendar and the google Calendar working fine together now.
Just one thing i am wondering why the entries that are in the Iphone calendar now from new entries or ones that have come from the google calendar don't syc with icloud.
I thought everything in the Iphone calendar would back up to icloud.
