Its not commercial (residential) I just havnt paid my electricity bill for 5 years.
Why not?
Have you genuinely been unable to pay it / have you been something towards it?
Even over 5 years that's a steep bill (over £100/month) - are there reasons why its so high?
Have you taken steps to reduce your consumption to the absolute minimum (like many of us have to!) to stop the arrears building?
Have you asked for a meter if you're unable to afford a regular payment so you can top up as you have money ....Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

Good morning Tom2015
Thank you for the information from the other posters, that's very kind.
To get the correct information from E.ON you would need to speak to the legal team as this is the direction your account has gone now.
It would normally be a representative from the actual court that will be visiting you, how they do this etc will need to be clarified by them.
May I ask, if there's a reason you haven't had a pre-payment meter?
I wouldn't be able to give much info on here I'm afraid but I can put you in contact with the legal team if you'd like me to.
Thank you

They can't arrest you, they have no powers to do that.
Can you make an arrangement to pay over time? Do you not have any income at all?!0 -
Awesome thanks peter!
So basically I have nothing to worry about, so long as I keep my windows and doors shut and dont let them in or get tricked into letting them in. They cant use a lock smith or take my door off or anything?
So basically I can just keep on not letting them in and they will keep spending more money trying to get money back and all the time they will be making a loss since I have no money and wont have for a long long time.
It isn't really all ok though is it? You can't just lock yourself away- surely you will need to leave your flat at some point?0 -

The Bailiff can't but if you obstruct them plod can, there's a new offence of obstructing an enforcement officer.
In my experience once bailiffs are involved the only way you will win is to pay or have the good seized. Failing that a warrant will be obtained to force entry to your premises and disconnect the supply or change the meter to a pre payment one.
Quite why anyone allows things to get to the point where bailiffs are knocking on the door is beyond me, all it does is make you owe far more than you originally did.0 -
Out of interest, is it really possible to rack up 5 years worth of bills without being disconnected or being put on a prepayment meter long before?
(Not that I'm doubting the word of a new poster or anything.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

I can usually empathise with people in financial difficulty however in this case i have no empathy, i hope the bailiffs do gain entry and take away the computer.
5 years of not paying for electricity and not addressing it sooner is taking the p**s.
Most utility companies do help to try and rectify any issues (even if it means putting in a pre-payment meter and charging the already skint a higher rate per kw)
It seems this guy wants free electricity to watch tv on his computer (so he doesnt need to pay for a tv licence)Finally dealing with debt: 01.01.2015 -£10,562.:(
