Newnet/Broadband Switchover

Hi,

I have recently switched to Newnet from Pipex. I was emailed to say the go-live date was today.

I have reconfigured my Netgear DG834 router with my new logon and password and changed the DNS settings but can't get it to connect.

What time of day does the switchover normally happen?

Its the first time I have done this so sorry if its a silly question

Still connected via Pipex :(
Looking to raise some money ;)

  • With most Broadband providers they do not tell you that the BB can be enabled on your line (am i right in saying its a BT line?) anytime upto 8pm.

Wait until your Pipex no longer works and then try to connect to your new providers details after a while. Switchover can be done in less than ten minutes but it will obviously vary from exchange to exchange.

Don't Newnet have a phone line?;)

    Give them a call.

No point as the switch over is done at the exchange by BT and it could be at any time during the day.

Usually orders will officially close off at midnight on the day.

So if they say the 8th August, then midnight on the 8th is when it will close. You might experience service before that but officially it doesn't close off till then :)

It could happen at any time, all three of our switchovers to date have happened at night. Don't worry, just keep using pipex until it dies. Go have dinner/coffee whatever, watch a film and then come back, reconfigure and see if it works.

I know it's an exciting time but really BT will do their thing whenever they get round to it.

If it's not working by tomorrow and your pipex has already died then give NewNet a call.

    Thanks for all your help.

I have called Newnet and they confirm it should happen by 8pm tonight.

I guess I'll just have to patient.

Still I have loads to do as the Painter is in doing out House up.

All paid for by the landlord :D
