Is this relic a valid cable TV box?

Options
I've moved into a 1960s house with a lot of original features. Avocado bathroom, original kitchen with only 2 mains plug sockets, in need of a complete rewire and refurb, you get the idea.

One of the many relics I've found is this beauty (Please excuse manky walls, this house needs so much work)

Having had Virgin Media about 10 years ago in another house and been happy with them, I've applied for Virgin Media self install here, and there is a modern looking external box on the outside of the house (Granted it says NTL, but since Virgin took them over, I'm not too worried). However, as the Friday arrival of the self-install box looms, I'm now having a panic and wondering if the box in the house will be able to cope. I suppose worst case scenario is that it doesn't, and I have to call Virgin out to update it, but I thought I'd ask whether anyone here has seen anything like this before and can put my mind at ease. Can I use this?

It could be a very old NTL box (the ones in our house fitted around 2000 are all double connection sloped boxes), it'll either work or it won't and I suspect there is no way to tell until you try it.

My guess it's one from the 90's, but as the box and wiring is all passive there is no reason it won't work that wouldn't also be possible with a much newer box (signal levels would be the big issue, but you get that regardless of if the wiring and internal box is 20 years old or 20 minutes old) so it'll be a case of plugging the box in and seeing what happens.

When you unscrew the white cover it simply has a DC block filter behind there, you can easily move it to a better location.

If you are also getting broadband I'm fairly sure it will need to be swapped for a twin output one anyway.

I had one of these when I had the original telewest cable TV in the mid 90s
