Getting EE Internet From Over £8 A Month Down To £2

Just wanted to mention my mini victory from last night - I'm hoping this is the right forum to do it in, I can't imagine there's anywhere else for it!
Basically I've been on a £2 a month internet for 12months deal from EE (available if you've got an Orange, T-Mobile or EE phone contract I think). I paid the line rental up-front to save on that, and was told that my following 12months would cost upwards of £8.50 a month which I thought was reasonable.
Last night I noticed I was being charged for line rental and the new internet price - my 12months was up. I called to pay my line rental in one lump sum again and cheekily asked if they could do anything better than the new internet price I had to pay.
To my surprise, they instantly mentioned being able to put me back onto the £2 a month plan! I was transferred to retentions (although I made absolutely no mention of wanting to leave them) and within minutes I was put back to £2 a month for a further 12months!
I just thought I'd mention it as a reminder to everyone to call up and ask the question - what better deal can you do for me? It's worth asking.
As a side note, I actually didn't have a very good time with EE customer service wise last year, but they've always been great at refunding me and my actual internet now is the fastest it can be for the location I'm in with no dropouts so I'm happy with it. :T

Once it's working, it's great.
I'm very happy with the deal, they even gave me two months free, worth about £50.
It's navigating through the Sea of Undead who know not what they do, and yet keep telling you they have done it that drives you insane.0 -

I did have some problems with them not connecting me for months last year (all their own errors, I took time off work to wait for an engineer they confirmed the week before, then the morning of the same day, then to tell me it'd never been booked and I'd need to wait another 4 weeks. This happened twice.).
But I was just making the point; whichever broadband provider you're with, just make the call and ask to get some money off. You could end up with a huge discount!0 -
I did the same earlier. I Was going to go to bt for the football, but ee haven't been bad and it's a lot cheaper so I can't complain. Didn't take much persuasion either. He asked what I pay now, said £2, then said he could match it. For how little it works out over the year for me it's worth it:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one
