It’s not going to happen. Regulation is the issue.
Ive had this debate so many times. The UK competition authorities will not let a deal through that sees the merged entity take more than 25% of the market. It has only happened once — and that was in the stressed circs of Lloyds merger with HBOS. All over thimes the deals have been killed, such as Lloyds/Abbey and all the attempts in the supermarket sector, etc etc.
The simple reason is that if the authorities let one deal through it will happen in every single sector. Naturally a competition lawyer will say I am talking rubbish, but I’m right...0 -
It will but they'll have to make some concessions regarding coverage, LTE bandwidth, MVNOs etc
Being the smaller operator buying up the incumbent also helps. It’s not going to happen. Regulation is the issue. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
