Don't forget about DSR's (some other law now) 2 weeks limit. This is a far more reliable indication of 'reasonable' than groundless Which?'s figure.

.....I have seen numerous reports of this happening with this series of laptops.......Have been on trust pilot site and there are three to four similar cases all with Toshiba laptops......
If it's such a well-known design fault, why did you buy that particular laptop in the first place?0 -
Thanks grumbler yeah I've heard about that. Read SOGA fully last night and it's very vague. Last poster seems just to post to criticise it seems. Guess what I didn't know it was a fault when I bought it but I do now! (States bloomin obvious!) :rotfl: I needed a laptop and it seemed to have all I needed and I should have done a bit more digging before purchase. Some of us aren't as perfect as others obviously! Starting to wonder from their posts if they work for company lol0

Its the CCR
The problem with the CCR over the old DSR is that the merchant can now charge for devaluation of the goods returned. So if the OP was still in that time limit they'd need to be able to put it back into the same state it was as they got it (inc most packing materials etc) then simply returning it under the CCR could cost them. Obv just a theoretical point as outside the limit.
The CCR is designed to deal with "change of mind" type scenarios as the defective/ not as described issues are already catered for under the SOGA0 -
I purchased a dishwasher using my Tesco credit card. The dishwasher was not as described. Tesco are happy that my case has been upheld. Therefore they will do a full refund but they require a letter on headed paper from a charity, stating that my dishwasher is no longer in my possession. I'm having trouble getting that letter from the disposal centre that take thing in that are in working order still. Can they make you give it to charity for you to get a full refund? What do I do if I can't get a letter?0

Tell Tesco that you will hold on to the goods for a reasonable time and they are free to collect at a reasonable time.
As I see it they refund you and collect or refund you and not collect and you should be free to dispose of the goods as you see fit.0 -

It's their dishwasher, and they can demand pretty much anything reasonable. It doesn't look unreasonable if they ask a charity to collect the item on their behalf. I don't know. Is it a 'disposal centre' or a 'charity'? If they collected the item on Tesco's behalf, why can they not confirm this?What do I do if I can't get a letter?0 -
Thanks for the feedback. It's not there dishwasher. It was from Currys. Currys aren't having it back. I don't see why it should be given to charity either as it's not my thought it was sold incorrectly online.0

If Tesco CC have refunded you under S75 then the goods now belong to them and they can do with them as they wish and ask you to deal with any reasonable request. Who contracted the "disposal centre" to collect the goods ?0
