EE billed me £12 to call customer services from abroad

Hi Folks, just a word of warning, when abroad in Germany I called EE customer services 150.
When I checked my bill there was an line item saying I'd called 00150 in the USA for 9 mins which resulted in a £12 fee!
I hadn't called the USA so I called EE customer services, they didn't know initially what it was, but they investigated and credited my account, no problem.
Still if I hadn't checked my bill I'd have been £12 out of pocket.
So those on EE who ring customer services from abroad - check your bill!

You were actually lucky you got it credited. Calling customer service from abroad is no longer free since about 3 years ago.

Of the three brands, only callers on Orange can call customer service from overseas for free.
EE and Tmob customers will both pay standard (roaming) call charges.

Sometimes a network abroad will interpret 150 as 00150 - 001 being recognised as the IDD code for USA/Canada. CS will sort it.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0
