Done them on other cars. Fairly easy. Just remove the current leakoff pipes and blank them to prevent dirt/air getting into the system.

Then connect up a pipe and container to each injector. Run the engine through the recommended test, Usually something like idle for 3 minutes and then rev to 3000rpm for 30 seconds (sometimes repeated 2 or 3 times).

Sometimes you only need the 3 minute idle to spot the really bad injectors.

40ml in a minute? Is that the rate for those? On the Fords its under 25ml throughout the whole test.

Thanks for that info mate 40ml thats what ive read on a bmw forum but id does seem a fair bit

as far as blanking them goes what can i use to blank the fuel leak off pipes?

It went to a injector speclist who tested the injectors (i have a print out) 2 were bad and 2 were okish just needed cleaning up i wonder if the copper washer is sitting flush in the injector port hhmmm

It is also possible that the noise is from the 2 injectors that were just cleaned.

It is also possible they just chucked in 2 used injectors aswell and didn't actually refurb anything.

You could do with a cable and a copy of INPA/DIS

You can see the injesctor correction values, it isn't a substitute for a leak off test but will show if the injector is injecting the correct amount of fuel and performing well.

The bar will go into the Red if the ECU cannot compensate for a leaky/stuck injector

This is from my 530D hence the extra two readings.
Cylinder 1 on mine is leaking so the ECU applies a negative correctional value reducing the fuel it applies to counteract the leak. It's in the green though so not something to worry about, the car has it under control :)

There is a wole raft of things you should be doing to your car now but best to register over at (to name but two)

You can cap the pipes with anything that fits, Its only to stop air getting into the lines.

Pen lids if you can find one without a hole, small bolt with a bit of ptfe tape around it. Anything really not critical.

You are better off asking on the forums, there are sellers there who will provide any support. It can be tricky to get it going the first time.

Something like this though to give you an understanding of price etc

Most common cause for the noise you describe is that the injectors are not sealed correctly in the cyl head. You should always fit new seals (copper washers) to the injectors. Make sure the injector tip is clean or the washer will drag carbon up as you push it on and get betweeen the seal and injector. The cyl head must also be spotless. We have tools to plug the head and stop dirt going into the cylinder and a wire brush by in a drill to clean the seat.
