    Hi robidy,
No luck so far with them.
Got promissed a call from them yesterday but they only called at 8pm when i was at work and left a voicemail. This was after i contacted them via twitter. Got another call from private number this afternoon, rang twice and i answered and then they hang up.
The problem with me is that either virgin and mbna say they cant find my account. I only have the old original credit card number, but apparently the card number changed in feb/march last year but i only know the last 4 digits. I never received a new card as the account is closed since 2010 but with a balance which is paid by direct debit.
Concerning the direct debit it still shows on my bank account as mbna and it hasnt been changed so far. One of the letters i received from virgin says that they will collect the DD a few days later after 1st april, but not sure that is going to happen. Because virgin money costumer service cant find my account i am just hitting a brick wall.
Again, can only sit and wait...

Update... just got a call from virgin money and all is set up and working fine. It took three days but all sorted now. Guess the main issue is that i did not have the new credit card number issued early last year. Thank u all for ur advice.
  • I have recently been declined an MBNA card (wanted it for balance transfer as Virgin have stopped offering them following the transfer of cards from MBNA).
It seems that MBNA have kept customer details, so they can see the level of credit available from Virgin (for me it's about £21,000) but no outstanding balance.
So I was declined from issuer - when I passed the MSE pre-checks (obviously).
MBNA said to re-apply in 6 months.
Anyone else encountered this and know how to get MBNA card?

Could be due to any number of reasons that you were declined, salary, other debts.

I don't think they would keep records as they can find out credit limits from credit reference agencies to use to make a decision.

I've noticed too that Virgin Money take a lot longer than the 3 days they quote for replying to e-messages in the online accounts. Not impressed with a 9 day turnaround on a simple query.

Virgin Money still offer Balance Transfer cards but as an existing customer you wouldn't be able to B/T within the same group (which is pretty bog standard.)
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

I assumed that the OP had been transferred by virgin, from an MBNA backed card to virgin moneys own CC, and then would be able to transfer as two different companies now.
