virgin credit card moving to virgin money

So... got a couple of letters from Virgin Credit Card in the last month saying that my card was being transfered to Virgin Money and that i would receive a registration code to access the online account. Received it today but it did not work, could not get access. Rang Virgin Money and now they say that my account is actually with MBNA.
Rang MBNA and by all means, it cant access my account online. They made me doubt my own sanity, as the steps they were telling me to do was not what i was seeing on my screen. And i have tried on a tablet and on a laptop.
Guess the issue is that my account has been closed since 2010 but still paying the balance by direct debit.
Eventually, i was told to try to ring again i a few days. I am sure that will work. What a mess!!! Anyone having issues with these Virgin accounts transfer?
Thks

I've had 2 letters, one telling me my (current?) Virgin credit card is moving to Virgin Money and will no longer be MBNA, as of the 20th March apparently. I got another letter today telling my account is closed and not to worry - I presumed this related to a Virgin credit card I had about 4 years ago, but am not wholly sure...

Virgin really needs to get their act together. Really concerned with what is going to happen to the direct debit and my access to the online account so that i can make extra payments. But cant bear the tought of being on the phone with them again today. Completely useless costumer service from both sides. Arghhh

My move to virgin money from MBNA was quite straightforward thankfully. One letter last week telling me what was happening and that online account access would be unavailable over last weekend, and should be up and running today.

Tried to log-in using my normal details today, and was asked to re-register, and if I didn't have my activation code, I could have it emailed to me. After this filled in all personal details, new security details, activation code which had been emailed to me, and all done. Tried to access online account and all fine, including my payment details.

Checking all the paperwork just noticed that the last 4 digits of the card mentioned on the last letters are different than my old card number. Maybee they changed my card details recently without informing me, even though there is no physical card as it has been cancelled since 2010. Need to give them a call again tomorrow.
Paully, got the same letters and info as you, even today received the registration code from Virgin Money. But at the end i am staying with MBNA, apparently.
    Confused...

I've just logged into the new Virgin Money accounts system with no issues. As thought, my current card with a balance on has migrated from MBNA to Virgin Money, and my old defunct card with different last digits from about 4 years ago has also migrated over but is technically redundant as I closed it some time ago. Think I'm going to apply for an MBNA money transfer now to stooze against my offset mortgage as no longer with MBNA.
  • Followed the same procedure as others above. Received the letters but not an email with the code. Requested on line and now registration is complete.

All transactions are shown and previous statements.

Only thing. My statement, when MBNA were running it was due on 18th of the month and payable by about the 9th of the next month. At present there is no current statement showing and no projected statement date, so it looks like they might be going to extend the statement date.

Will need to keep an eye on it to make sure they don't slip in the statement at the last moment. I know that's wrong but could do without the hassle at the moment.

Maybe give them a ring and see whether you are staying with MBNA or moving to virgin money, as when i go to the log-in page, at the top it has a message, 'are you with MBNA, and if so click here'.
I have just had a look at the card i was sent in August last year (never really looked at it before as was just for a BT and then put in my cupboard), and says 'virgin money' on it, and no mention of MBNA anywhere on it. Guess they knew back in August that i would be staying/moving (?) with virgin money.

It got even better today. Rang MBNA first and now they say i have no account with them. My account has been transfered to Virgjn. Rang Virgin and they can not find my account and told me to ring MBNA. Told them i already done so. So they are going to escalate and they will ring me back. Its proving an adventure. Looking forward to see who is going to collect the direct debit, if any of them, at the end of the month.
I looked on emails and letters and from feb/march last year the last 4 digits of the card have changed but never got any info about this. Note that the account is closed since 2010 but still paying the balance.
    Well, wait and see...
Thank you all for your comments.

I'm still waiting for my access code, despite them saying we would all have one by the 23rd of March. Tweeted Virgin money, and they said some more codes were being emailed today, not all the rest, just some more!:(
  • If you pay by bank transfer you may have some problems.

The sortcode that Virgin Credit card is using is 40-64-25 with an account number of 41320424. It will only accept faster payments, it will not accept normal BACS transfers - fine for may people but not everyone, especially those who have been unable to register online and use a debit card to pay.

Additionally given it's a very new sortcode, it's not been setup for use with a number of major bank account providers, this include the Nationwide so make sure you have an alternative way to pay and don't pay on the last possible day as you may get caught out.

I'm one of the first to get a new format statement and I'm rather concerned as they seem to be doing strange things such as quoting my interest rates on a daily rather than monthly basis and more interested in pushing special offers, something to save once they've ironed out the creases one would have thought.

Their letters about the change seem to have been through the snide team in the marketing department with important details on the back of what is presented as a one page letter.

They have also failed to embrace the spirit of treating customers fairly by continuing to have a stupidly short window to make payment compared to Nationwide, Barclaycard and most other major industry players who accept payment up to the day before the next statement.

When I called on Monday, after a long wait on hold staff were unsure which payment details would change and how long the system would be down for registrations and suggested I try back that night.

My postal address was incorrectly migrated so I'd also check that once you get in if you normally have paper statements as you may not get them!

All in all a 4/10 for Virgin for letting the marketing department take precedence over common sense process.
