Letters from Parking Eye -£100 for 9 mins!!
thestens
We inadvertently overstayed by 9 mins in a Leeds car park and have received 2 letters from Parking Eye. The first they sent we didn't receive at all, the second went to our old address and anyway we were on holiday for a month so didn't see it until our return last week. I immediately appealed, using information gleaned from this site, firstly that I wasn't the driver and secondly that the fine was unreasonably punitive.
Since then I have received another letter, obviously sent before they received mine, threatening court action, etc.
I guess my appeal to Parking Eye will fail, what do I do next? Their second letter had all this about Section 4 and that I hadn't responded with in the correct number of days, etc. I really feel strongly about not paying - £100 for 9 minutes is just ridiculous!!
Does anyone else have any stories of success with Parking Eye?? How serious do you think they are about court action and if it goes that far do I have any chance of winning or will it just end up costing me even more?

this will give you all you need to fight this ....
the second course is to complain to the landowner/shop/business to get it overturned
ParkingLie will often cancel if receipts are provided...

Thank you, Ralph. How do I find out who owns the land? It just looks like a scruffy chunk of land in Leeds. Will it say on it somewhere? I don't live there so can't easily go to find out. Also, what sort of receipt do you mean? Do you mean the parking ticket itself? We had one but did overstay by 9 mins.0

The BPA says there should be a grace period, which, I believe, is over 10 minutes. PE are not only 'pigs'(that is, being greedy) but stupid for asking you for £100. You have every reason to be confident in making them crawl back into the hole they came out of. Read the newbie sticky.Got a ticket from ParkingEye? It was initially of course £60! but we missed that generous offer by being on holiday ( and we never received the first letter anyway!) I have read the newbie thread but found it quite hard to follow - am I being thick?? Hope I put the right stuff in the appeal letter - basically just threw everything at the wall in the hope that some thing sticks! I will have to think carefully about the POPLA appeal I suppose as I expect the Parking Eye one will fail!0

A Scruffy bit of land in Leeds doesn't exactly narrow it down too well - was this a stand alone car park ( ie P&D) or one attached to a store/retail park? From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
bear in mind PE are very serious about court claims, they issued over thirty thousand last year, so appeals should go in by the due dates and not late0
