First time buyer - When can I purchase broadband?!

Hi.
We are a week away from completing the purchase of our new house, no money has been transferred as of yet. Move in date is the 1st of April.
I want to know when i can go ahead and order broadband? We are going with Sky which is the same provider as the previous owner had. Although when going through the buying process online Sky now says there is no active line (said it did a week ago so i can only assume the owner has cancelled).
What is normal practise? Do you wait until you have the keys and wait a century for the line to be set-up or can i proceed now to save some time in the long run? Oh and the router will be sent to that address also meaning we wont be there!
Thanks for any help!

No money has changed hands-so you haven't paid a deposit then?
The property is not yet yours to occupy, so wait until you are in the door. It will take perhaps 2 weeks to reconnect/reprovision the service-not exactly 'a century'. This work is done BT OR, not Sky,so it depends on local demand on your exchange.
This also avoids the problems caused when your completion date slips, as is frequently the case.No free lunch, and no free laptop

To help anyone else in this situation it turns out Sky does give you an option of what date you want the line activated which solves our problem!0
