Home insurance - insurer covered wrong address... can we claim money back?

Hi all,
We bought our first home and got buildings & contents insurance through a bank (please avoid early judgement here...). We signed up "in-branch", moved in and all was hunky-dory. I called up to add on an engagement ring to the policy 6 months later to be told that the address I was asking to cover the ring at was not the address covered by the policy. The bank had covered a completely different address to the one we are living in.
They admitted error and immediately updated the policy for the correct address and waived the slight increase in monthly cost. However, we have paid for another house to be insured for the last 6 months. Their response was "as this was our error, we would have authorised any claim against the "wrong" property" - but surely this is easy to say in hindsight. They believe we have been covered, we disagree and we're getting a call-back from some manager (hopefully...).
Do you think we have a claim to recoup the monies we've already paid to insure someone else's house?
Thanks for reading!

No, it is an admin error, you were never insuring someone else's house in reality.
If you had had a total loss, you would be arguing, quite correctly that they covered you, and they would0 -

This means that they corrected the mistake to cover the correct address and they covered the premium difference. However, we have paid for another house to be insured for the last 6 months. Its easy to say in hindsight as it is the correct position from them. They believe we have been covered, we disagree and we're getting a call-back from some manager (hopefully...).
What evidence do you have to produce that says you were not covered?Do you think we have a claim to recoup the monies we've already paid to insure someone else's house?
You have no basis to be refunded as they have confirmed that they corrected the address mistake and continued to offer cover. That is good enough to show they carry the liability under the insurance.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They may well give you something as a gesture but would not be obliged to.0
