That was in reply to the OP's question about whether their original landlady needed to inform them the property was for sale. My apologies if I wasn't explicit enough in that for you.
Man up your post was talking about the landlord changing:Your tenancy is on exactly the same basis as it was, except that the landlord's changed. No, there's no requirement that they inform you.0 -
The person who rang me has his own company in southport, I checked up on that. I will keep paying my rent to the landlady there was no question of that. But her last text was --
It was not on the market. The person who rang me provides finance so the house is part of a seperate arrangement.
I have asked for more information dont quite understand it all?0 -
My advice would be
* stop paying rent till this is clarified, but keep the rent aside so you can pay it in due course
* contact the landlady again and ask her to confirm, in writing
1) whether she still owns the house, and wants the rent or
2) whether she has sold, or transferred ownership of, the house, and to who.
As already stated, in Eng/Wales, the new owner must inform you IN WRITING:
Landlord & Tenant Act 1985 section 3
AND
Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 section 48
edit: there is no legal requirement to tell a tenant in advance when a property is sold, though it is polite, and sensible, to do so.0 -
You don't need to understand it. You just need to know who your LL is and the address for the serving of notices.
It could be that the person who has contacted you provides some sort of financial product to your LL which isn't really any of your business. I think this person has just caused unnecessary confusion.0 -
I have asked her to explain what is going on?0
