How long does it take agents to put up SOLD board normally??

We had an offer agreed on a house we are buying this week. I told the agent it was subject to being taken off the market immediatly and he said he would cancel all viewing etc.. also he said he would mark it as SOLD STC on the internet site (which he has) and that the board would go up.
It has been 5 days and the FOR SALE sign is still up outside. They have had our solicitors details to arrange everything and know we have our mortgage, do they not think we are serious? we are worried abt someone gazumping us as the house is in a VERY sought after location and quite reasonablly priced.
Should I contact the agent and ask whats going on?
Thanks guys

My friend has just completed on a house that they initially put the offer in on three months ago. The 'Sold' sign never went up! xGone ... or have I?0

Sold sign never went up on ours and it had taken 6 months from putting in our offer to moving in!0

Most agents with not be arsed.0

Round here a company goes around counting sold signs compared to for sale signs, with the most sold ones being judged the most successful. Not surprisingly the sold signs go up pretty fast.Been away for a while.0

It varies from company to company. With my current house sale the sold board went up the day after I accepted the offer.
With one house sale a few years back the sold board went up on day of completion & move.
Have you had your survey yet as many ea's will wait till survey is done & they know sale is going to proceed? The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Yep I sign contracts tomorrow, but the house I am buying still says for sale.Loving the dtd thread. x0

The house we are completing on in a few weeks still had the sold sign up about a month after our offer was accepted.I called the EA to request they take it down or stick a big fat 'SOLD' sticker across it and they did.Just give you vendors EA a call.In an Acapulco hotel:
The manager has personally passed all the water served here.:rotfl:0 -
We chased for one after 2 weeks of selling, as we didn't want the neighbours to feel sorry for us for not selling!!!! (sad eh!) It was done by an outside agency and the EA had no idea that it hadn't been done! (we also had to chase for a "for sale" board too...!!!!)0

Once they've got a sale, most agents aren't interested in chasing for another one. I'd chill out.
If anyone calls, the agent will tell them the house is under offer/sold. If the person is still desperate for details, an agent will usually just take their number. There is no point in working when you don't have to.
It is often thrid parties that do the signs and I suppose if you get a lazy one, they don't go up for ages.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
