Thompson Flight Delay from Birmingham

Hi
My parents took a flight from Birmingham to the Carribean last year, the flight was delayed by 7 hours 5 mins, as per letter from Thompson Airways. The reason was 'technical issue within the Thompson Airways fleet'
My parents were told that the airport ground staff had ran into the plane and damaged it so they had to wait for an alternative plane to be brought in from Mexico
Do they have a claim against Thompsons
