Anti ageing cream that really works?

I'm 48 next birthday, I've used lots of face creams I like, don't think I've found the holy Grail yet.
I recently used the elemis pro collegen marine cream, I thought it was ok, nothing amazing.
Liz Earle is ok.
Quite like regenerist, no7 perform & protect is ok.
Body shop drops of youth nice.
Yves rocher in the green jar, nice.
I've tried loads more.

Has anyone found anything amazing?
I guess ideally I'm looking for firmness, with a bit of wrinkle help too :-(

From what I have researched the only things that work are retinol and vitamin c ( absorbed acid), you need to be careful with them and introduce them slowly over time and build up the concentration. You must wear a high SPF when using them.
I won't say use this or that, I would suggest you research and find out. I don't spend a fortune on my skin care.

At the end of the day no cream will ever stop physical aging.

If creams and lotions really worked then there would be no plastic surgeons doing face lifts or fillers.

Oh and you need a sun screen min of SPF 30 everyday. In fact you need to start early.
  • Hi Kim Kim!

I recently discovered a product called 'Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion 10% Glycolic' which I'm really impressed by - the glycolic acid in this lotion acts as a chemical exfoliant, and buffs off the old, dull skin cells and minimises dryness and fine lines. You can apply it once or twice daily, but you must wear sun cream to protect your 'fresh' skin.

There are so many positive reviews from women saying that they put their youthful looks down to this:

It smells a bit weird until it has absorbed properly, and it does sting a little, but I've noticed that since I've been using it, my skin feels smoother and looks less dull / dry.

You can buy it on Amazon for a pretty reasonable £13, for a 177ml bottle: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpha-Hydrox-Lotion-177-ml/dp/B000052YM7/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427053362&sr=8-1&keywords=alpha+hydrox

Simple do a really nice moisturisung spf 30 sun screen for the face, which I'm currently applying after the Alpha Hydrox. It's nice and soothing, and sinks in quickly, plus it's only £3.99 for 50ml at Boots:

Along with Simple's moisturising face wash, I think this is a pretty great and budget-friendly trio for smooth youthful-looking skin.

    Worth a try?

A lot of the reviews are from people with acne or pimplely skin, is it really for firming & lines too?

    Have you tried it?

When do you use it? With moisturiser?

It says 'Anti-Wrinkle' on the bottle, so it's not just good for blemished skin, and on the packaging it also says:

'Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion is proven to significantly reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration... Renews moisture, refines texture, improves elasticity and skin tone'.

I use it every evening after cleansing, and a few minutes afterwards I apply moisturiser. Then, next morning, I use the Simple sun screen.

I think it's something that has a cumulative affect - I've literally only had it for less than a week, but I like the results so far, and I'm looking forward to comparing how my skin looks / feels in a month's time.

Just be wary that that sunscreen is a chemical one, which can be irritating to some skins, and if any pigmentation is present can make it worse. :(

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.

How can a sunscreen, chemical or physical, make pigmentation worse? I thought hyperpigmentation is caused by the sun, thus using sunscreens helps prevent it?

Yes, I thought so too. In fact I thought chemical sunscreens usually had a higher level of UVA protection then physical so would be better at preventing hyperpigmentation?
