Hair getting knotted all the time, can I stop it?

Fortunately I don't suffer with frizz.
I don't want to go short. Had my hair short quite a few times and to be honest I never suited it. Plus I'm lazy when it comes to hair styling, so found short hair too high maintenance.
I've also made a mistake by having a fringe cut in. I hadn't described what I wanted clearly enough and ended up with a fringe of doom lol. Totally forgot how much of a nusience a fringe is. I let my hair air dry, because if I don't the fly aways are worse. Just got to find a product to help it stay in place. Just don't want to use hairspray.
I totally understand!! Similar problems with my hair. Have you tried hair wax? You only need a tiny bit at a time (rubbing it in your hands before using through the hair), so it's quite economical. I much prefer it to spray and mousse.
All the best. x0 -

My hair is in good condition overall, just seems that it must get to a certain length and starts to knot. Had my hair cut yesterday and haven't washed it yet as I got it died aswell. Will see what it's like after I was it.
Did the cut help at all? Normally makes a massive difference to being able to cope with it knotting when I've had my hair cut.
If it gets static a lot it can be a sign of damage but if this isn't what is caused by the static and it is in good condition, you could try a hair masque or home-treatment every week (if your not already) which can help hair feel smoother, maybe it will make your hair more able to slide away from itself and less likely to tangle?
Other suggestions were to try getting under-layers cut in which is normally designed to cut out the bulk if your hair feels too heavy/thick to cope with and if there is less hair there it's less likely to tangle, but only do this if your happy with the length but struggle with how thick it is or it bulks around the lengths or something, it's designed to help styles look bigger at the root rather than bulky at the ends.
Or take a brush out with you (I have to do this but I am on the tub/bus quite a bit and always have my hair blown around a lot) and just keep brushing your hair every now and then to prevent it getting blown about a lot and tangled and then more tangled and building up bigger knots.
Or plait your hair for a few days a week when it's not so important to keep it long. Unlike fixing hair with a hair elastic, a plait is far less tight and your less likely to build in grooves and kinks to your hair.
Hope you find some answers!0 -
I remeber when I was younger my mum used to comb my hair when I had my conditioner on so the comb went through it better and then I washed it off and it was easier to brush after I have dried it.
When you wash your hair make sure that you brush it before you get in the bath/shower so there are less knots.
Maybe try brushing your hair in layers, starting with the underneath and then the top, I've found that really helps as my hair is always gettng knotted too!!Read my diaryHere
