Hair getting knotted all the time, can I stop it?

I've heard that using silk pillow cases can stop your hair getting knotted during the night.0

I don't use any heat on my hair. I pretty much wash and wear.
I do use conditioner after shampooing. I also use a dentangler spray. If I didn't use the dentangler spray I wouldn't get a comb through my hair.0 -
My hair knots very easily, even though its fine, I have a lot of it, layers don't help much. Frizz ease is good and there's a conditioner called gum that you get in semi chem and home bargains that take the knots out. Argan oil conditioner is also good.
Just the way my hair is, my mum also has fine hair, but hers never knots, my hair is wavy as well which doesnt help. My hair is in good condition and not heat damaged, it just knots very easily.0 -
purpleshoes..sounds like we have the same hair, except mine is naturally straight.
My hair is in good condition overall, just seems that it must get to a certain length and starts to knot. Had my hair cut yesterday and haven't washed it yet as I got it died aswell. Will see what it's like after I was it.0 -
Frizz ease might help, even if your hair isn't curly, its very good for getting knots out. Ive not found anything better, argan oil hair mask, the intensive stuff you can get from pound shops is also ok. Superdrug used to do a pot of deep conditioner, but sadly they don't seem to do it anymore, I used to use another of their conditioner, but again, looks like it's been discontinued.
I wear my hair tied back most of the time and it still knots, I dont use straighteners on my hair, it is in good condition, its just the way it is.0 -
My daughter's hair gets terribly knotted and used to be impossible to comb, didn't matter how much conditioner I put in it or how much detangling spray I used. Then my hairdresser recommended Moroccan Oil which is fantastic. It's quite expensive, but you only need a teeny tiny bit. I really couldn't believe the difference, there's no more tears after bath time.0

I use a hair oil ( mine's Ojon) but you can get cheaper ones in places like superdrug - it stops the tangles but in my case not the frizzproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

I use Percy and Reed's no oil oil hair serum whilst my hair is still damp. It does help, but even then, it can't stop the knotting.
I will try everyone's recommendations. Getting fed up of having to get a lot trimmed off every time I go to the hairdressers.0 -
When my hair is long (had it cut short yesterday!) I have problems with knots. I have found Johnson's "No More Tears" shampoo to be quite helpful. Vosene do a childrens shampoo (in a white/blue bottle; not the shampoo + conditioner combined) which I've also found good.
My poor brother started to lose his hair when he was 14 though, so despite the knots I think I got the better deal...!
All the best. x0 -
Thanks all.
Fortunately I don't suffer with frizz.
I don't want to go short. Had my hair short quite a few times and to be honest I never suited it. Plus I'm lazy when it comes to hair styling, so found short hair too high maintenance.
I've also made a mistake by having a fringe cut in. I hadn't described what I wanted clearly enough and ended up with a fringe of doom lol. Totally forgot how much of a nusience a fringe is. I let my hair air dry, because if I don't the fly aways are worse. Just got to find a product to help it stay in place. Just don't want to use hairspray.0
