I am in complete and utter shock and pretty devastated.

I have just gone through my emails and it appears I received an email from ITV on 19th May last year confirming I was the winner of 3rd March 2014 ITV competition. They were apparently unable to contact me on my mobile number and sent me an email requesting that I contact them before Friday 16th May 2014.

This competition was to win £20,000 plus a Designer Bundle! See link attached...
http://www.itv.com/competitions/embed.php?subscriber=UTV&oid=909&type=tcs&origin_type=tcs&origin_oid=all

I have been entering the ITV comps since I was 18 years old and I am now 30. I have never won anything so big... let alone to lose out on it.

Has this happened to anybody else?! Do you think it would be worth a call to them?

OMG!!! You must feel so so gutted :( Personally I would say it's definitely worth and email, and possibly even some kind of sob story about broken laptops etc ANYTHING!! You never know and if you dont contact them youll always be wondering x
Cant offer any more help, but I seriously hope you manage to at least get some sort of prize even if a consolation one xxx

Thank you so much! I am so so sad about this. £20,000 would have been life changing for me and especially right now. It may be worth a call, but they may have already allocated it to another winner. So at least it won't have gone to complete waste and I would be happy for the person that won. But stil... Nope, far too late to contact them back and the prize would have been long ago re-allocated and claimed.

It really really sucks but you should always check your spam folders. Do it everyday whenever you check your inbox and it's really easy to spot any wins because you're only dealing with a handful of spam emails at a time.

If you're not going to check the spam folder, you might as well just delete it without looking through it. The only likely outcome is a huge disappointing one like you've got for yourself now.

I do feel your pain - I would be gutted too - but I also follow a golden rule of comping and check my spam.
Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!

I've read the terms etc, and it isnt written in solid that they will DEFINITELY choose another winner......I would imagine its very likely, but its worth a shot..... it's less than a year if they sent the email in May, and maybe they somehow forgot (here's hoping) to pick someone else, they may still do something? If it was me I'd get ready for a sob story for the first time ever & even cry!!!
Best of luck x I can only begin to imagine how you must feel :(

I'm almost certain that another MSE user won this exact prize, and if my memory serves me correctly, they were also notified by email as they couldn't get hold of them by phone, how weird as you almost never hear of ITV using email!
I'm so sorry to hear your story. I can't begin to imagine how gut wrenching it must be to know you had such a big miss. :(
You sound like you're being very stoical about it though, I'd be in bits if it were me!
Hope something great is just round the corner for you xx

ETA: Yep, just checked, this is the post from the eventual winner
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4974544=
and they did win the 3rd March competition but weren't notified until May
So it looks like they redrew after they couldn't get hold of you :(

I wonder if it's this person in the ITV winners club http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=65564211&postcount=393

I remember this winner, he had a spam email about it too. Here's the thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4974544

So it seems like you were the second choice when the first person didn't claim, and they then claimed a few days later.
Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!

Thank you all for the lovely messages. This means a lot.

Not that it's my intention to gain any extra sympathy here - but my mum (who is only 53) suffered a huge heart attack three weeks ago and has just had a huge operation to save her life.

It helps you put things into perspective - and as nice as this win would have been... I am more grateful than anything to still have my mum with me. She is coming out of hospital tomorrow - so what could be better than that!?

Life is short - keep smiling!

Oh that's awful, how gutting :-(.
Edited after seeing your last post - I'm pleased you can put it in perspective. I lost my mum three years ago, and I can guarantee that having her back would beat any other prize x
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)
