Getting drugs through customs of EU airports

I have looked on line at the government site and others and there is not much info at all, so i figured i would ask here, someone must have travelled with controlled drugs before and got some experience.

I have some controlled drugs that i need to bring with me abroad, do i declare them at the customs security check or go straight through the security and not be concerned?

Also, can they take these off me in another EU country and confiscate them? Or are they not allowed?

Any advice/stories for example, appreciated.

Be sure that you bring the prescription and/or something from your doctor to prove that you have a legitimate reason for taking these substances. And carry them in their original labelled containers.

OK i do not have the prescriptions though, just the boxes. Thanks,

As long as they can't confiscate them.

Do i need to declare them then to their customs?

You need to research the law of the country you're going to, keep in mind that some medicines readily available over the counter in the UK can see you serving time in various foreign countries.

If it's a substance controlled in the UK you'll want to be especially careful.

I know, and theres little info on line either. The drugs i have are definitely illegal in their country unless prescribed by a doctor i guess. Not positive on it though.

I still do not know whether to declare them or just go direct through customs and say nothing.

    a few points here:

the exportation of controlled substances is a sect 68 CEMA 79 offence, i have, on several occasions had dealings with people exporting methadone, which by all accounts is a prescribed class A drug and if the exporters has their prescription on them, or a letter from their doctor, or its in the actual bottle it was prescribed in then its all good. However i have had to "deal" with passengers who have decanted their required amount for their trip away.

Regarding importation into another country you would need to confirm with their local customs

you can of course get an eu licence for importation and exportation of controlled substances but you would need to apply to the home office for such a document and the process, i should imagine, would be long winded and expensive

Cheers. Yes, mine are a class A as well, i think i will go to my doc and ask for a letter of copies of prescriptions as well just to be sure. Their Embassy and customs have not replied to me twice each. I don't think i got any options than to just go through with the drugs and if they stop me well, they can't say i did not try.

the issue with this, and i can already hear people saying the likelihood of you getting stopped is tiny, is if you did get stopped, and trust me people do, then you would be treated as a drug smuggler surely if what you have is prescribed then it wouldnt be too much of an issue getting a letter from your doctor, oh and if you do try and get it translated into the country you are going to too.
