Redditch must be particularly dead then!0 -
Actually, I confess to living in Coventry.
Every city has rough areas and, in the main, every city has some decent areas too. The city centre is a little... quiet if anything. At night it gives the illusion of menace by being remarkably empty given the size of the place. Earlsdon't OK for a decent pub or two though, and depending on which outskirts you're near, you're not far from Brinklow, Meriden, Leek Wootton and other half-decent villages with half-decent country pubs.
That said, if I was commuting to Shirley I'd want to be the right side of town, so that means Allesley or Tile Hill really. The likes of Balsall Common are quite nice, but quite pricey.
And tbh if I was looking for somewhere to live with a new job, I'd probably live in Shirley itself, as much to get a feel for the place first. Plus you'd save on travel costs and could add those onto your rental budget!0 -

Yeah I think I can save about £100 in petrol living nearer to the workplace but as it turns out my company will be shifting to near the airport instead near the end of this year.
Anyone know what Kidderminster and Dudley is like?0 -
