Good places to live near birmingham/west midlands

The motorway is still better than the A38. The M5 isn't bad.
But your friends won't be very near.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I know Redditch quite well. IMO its main advantages are its proximity to the motorway network and to Brum for theatre, nightlife etc.
The trains into Birmingham are good (just gone to 3X an hour), driving in during rush hour is less so. The town itself is ok but it depends on what you like doing. Any questions, happy to answer them. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Sutton Coldfield is nice area but a bit far. Traffic would be an issue for sure.
Why don't you want to live in Shirley? Its nice place. There are plenty of flats in your budget range:

I see you have clicked the "Let Agreed" option, I didn't realise it was there. Checking that option seems to be bringing up much better places in the areas mentioned here. I am going to have to keep an eye out for a good place now.0 -
Redditch is a fairly decent place to live, I was brought up in Coventry and now live in redditch, the difference is pretty huge in my opinion.
Coventry has more 'stuff' like shops, nightlife ect but it also has some very rough areas and I wouldn't venture into the town at night, a very busy city and traffic everywhere!
In Redditch it's a decent sized town, you can get everywhere easily, walking or driving and I feel so much safer. To Shirley would be fairly easy I think, jump on the M42 for 1/2 junctions and your almost there-cant remember the exact route I don't have a car! but not really found it a problem living here thankfully.
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0
