The local curtain shop i contacted quoted me GPB 1500 which i think is bit expensive, i have not chosen any shutters, its good quality curtains.

Hi I think £150 for a window is on the expensive side if they are normal windows, you can buy lovely ready made good quality curtains in the likes of debenhams, on the other hand if they are awkward shape the £150 is a good price, I paid £1094 for my made to measure bedroom curtains as the window is the whole end wall:)The person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0

Dunelm Mill are very good value for curtains. They have lots and lots of standard sizes, interlined etc or they will make you some bespoke sized ones for not too much.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

+1 for Dunelm Mill. I've had a number of standard pairs, and they've done a really good job on some bespoke ones too.0 -

How long is a piece of string?
Seriously, how big are the windows? I paid £600 just for fabric for three pairs of curtains, but this was for two large bay windows and another room with curtains covering french doors and sash windows 12 feet wide by 9 feet high.0 -

Buying made-to-measure curtains can cost a fortune. See if there are any ready-made curtains that are close enough to your window sizes. Don't worry if the widths aren't exact.
I'd also recommend a rummage around Dunelm Mills. I got a pair of curtains there for a tenth of what made-to-measure ones would have cost. According to the packet, they weren't wide enough, but they actually fit fine.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
A cheaper option might be blinds. I picked up some blinds at Ikea, they were cheap and good quality, but to be honest quite a faff to install and I had to cut the blind many times to get the fit correct. It took me all ad to do one blind.
For the rest of the house I bought made to measure blinds from Blinds2go.co.uk (not sure if I'm allowed to make recommendations, sorry of this is breaking the rules) and I am very please with the results. They must see me coming a mile off0
