  • Well the inspector came round and said he would cut the gas off as it was an illegal fit, but then called his boss and they decided that as there was no real proof <yet> that the install was fraudulant he would issue a notice to the registered installer to fix a few small faults and he would not be turning our boiler/gas off. He also said we had done more than what most people would've done in checking CORGI registration and ID card etc.

I asked what would happen when the registered Corgi bloke called and confirmed it wasn't him that installed and the inspector said that it was up to us to sort it out and get it commissioned. It seemed as though he had done his part and was washing his hands of the situation.

However, he did send a standard letter about the notice he has sent out about the amendments that need doing, but on it, he has stated the work was gas tight and safe. Surely this is now the inspector saying the work is fine?(obviously without a certificate)
Anyway, we are going to wait til the end of the month to see what the inspector produces about this and then decide what to do from there. The real Corgi bloke, like us and most people who have responded on here, think that CORGI have an obligation to financially deal with this as they get a heafty amount of money from registered persons and nothing is given back to them or consumers in return.

(I tried to post earlier, but it kept timing me out and logging me off when I clicked on post so I gave up!)

Oh it makes me angry and when people like that deceive folks. I wish trading standards etc would do more stink operations and get these people in jail, they don't deserve to be around when it comes to risking peoples lives with fake ID and booged up jobs (talking in general here)

Ryansmummy, if you're sure you have a leak* but can't find it then Fernox do a number of "leak seal" type products: www.fernox.com (Look under english>>products>>leak sealers)

(*It could be the system expansion vessel has failed or needs repressurising.)

Good evening: I would agree that CORGI needs to put its house in order. Tradespersons such as my OH, Corgi Guy, are losing good will with the public because the cowboys aren't being lassoed. You could say that CORGI fiddles while Britain burns!
As I suggested in a previous post, publicize your situation i.e contact local/national media, your MP and explain to the HSE in a formal letter why CORGI is failing to meet its mandate. Consumer action can force change!
