Yes, just tighten it a tiny bit.
This is not responsible for your pressure loss though, in fact it is nothing to do with it.0 -
When we had a new boiler fitted 3 years ago, initially there was a loss of pressure on the boiler, resulting in us filling it every 3 or 4 days. We had BG cover on it and they came round to check it.
Turned out that because we had had some new pipework fitted, the was some sort of reaction within the piping due to new and old pipes being combined, and it was producing some sort of gas . The BG fitter (who is a family friend also) went to the highest point of the system (our bathroom radiator) and bled the system. He demonstrated the gas by putting a lighter to it and it fires up as it comes out of the system (i do not advocate you trying this).
The soloution was to drain tyhe bathroom radiator and fill it up with Furnox*(sp). Other heating system cleaners are available.
We then pressuruised the sytem and ran it.
Touch wood no problems ever since.

I doubt CORGI will do anything, since he's not registered with him they can hardly throw him out. Contact your local trading standards, they may be able to help.0

It has nothing at all to do with CORGI i dont think, somone is saying they are qualified but they arent, its not a complaint at corgi, its the person themselves.
If i say im David Beckham and its turns out im not, do you complain to the real Mr Beckham!0 -
I think that David beckhams lawyers may well pursue someone who acts in that way, just as corgi are likely to act to protect their status.
OP - how did you pay & have you got any contact details for this person?0 -
Good afternoon: Investigating cowboys is part of CORGI's mandate http://www.trustcorgi.com/bewareofcowboys/WhatIsCORGIDoingToCombatTheCowboys.htmx

Real1314 We paid by cash unfortunately.
Corgi have to do something about it for the reason that the installer HAD a CORGI ID card. My DH asked to see this before we started any work. We checked the CORGI number on the website, and as it matched with the details he gave us (bar the mobile phone number, which is something that you would turn a blind eye to seeing as people often change mobile phone numbers) we had no reason to suspect anything. We asked him lots of questions too about the install and even about getting CORGI qualified and he gave us all the correct details. We called in several CORGI and nonCORGI for quotes before, including BG. We found that our installer had a better knowledge of the install, including the poor water pressure we have (which we've always known), compared to BG (who said we have very good water pressure!!!!).
The REAL CORGI bloke said that someone else has been duped by the same installer, and I am guessing that there have been more, just that not everyone knows the law on gas installs. He has contacted CORGI about his card being stolen (only after being informed by the other duped customer) and about the situation, but CORGI refuse to look into the matter until a customer has informed them.
CORGI have said that they will get back in contact with us within 10 days to investigate this.
According to the REAL CORGI bloke, CORGI have an obligation to resolve this situation as they have issued the fake with an ID card. I am not sure if they have actually issued it to him now that the real bloke has said his card has been stolen
I also don't understand why on the CORGI site they still have the apparent 'old' number for this bloke if they have changed it for him.
Either way, CORGI really should sort something out about their website and make it easier for consumers to spot the fakes/cowboys. If all ID cards have pictures on, then why can't these ID cards be accessed to view on their website? It would clarify for us lowly consumers who is actually CORGI qualified.
I will update when CORGI have got back to us.
Thanx for advice and sorry I've rambled on again.0 -

Good idea.
Good evening: I agree! CORGI should also indicate on the 'Find an Installer' facility whether an installer has the Energy Efficiency qualification and can self certify/notify work http://www.trustcorgi.com/consumer/requestacertificate.htmx
The more info the consumer has, the more difficult it is for the cowboys to benefit and the safer we will all be.

We had a new condensing boiler and central heating installed in April. The guy we used seemed genuine enough with corgi number and ID, we even checked he was registered on the corgi site.
Anyway, its now August and still no certificate of compliance and installer is non-contactable. Hubby called up the office number for the corgi guy and left a message on the answerphone. We got a phonecall back a few minutes later, and it turns out the guy who installed our boiler and CH is a fraud!
He has been using this guys details although the REAL corgi guy has apparently changed his corgi number.
My husband has filed a complaint on the corgi site, but I am worried about where this now leaves us. We have paid out for the job and this guy has now disappeared. I have just had my baby too, and we are in no financial state to be forking out another few grand or even the £350 needed for bulding regs to come out.
I was wondering if there was anyone who could give us advice on our situation please. I am finding it hard to think about anything else because of this.
The whole fit seems good enough and the guy knew exactly what he was doing. He tested the pressure, gas flow, water flow, checked the whole system, flushed it etc. However, the bar pressure seems to be dropping and the boiler leaks slightly when CH is on.
What will Corgi do about this? The real Corgi guy said that corgi are obliged to fix any issues and provide a certificate as they have issued this fake with a corgi card.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. TIA. Sorry this is so long.
Good morning: Has your situation been resolved?
