Hi.
Can someone please advise or help me?
I'm with Sky for Fibre Broadband and would like to leave and shop around as there are much better deals out there.
I've looked at various sites and they give me a list of providers, but, when I do a check to see if they DO provide my village they say NO!. ALL of them. So i'm stuck with Sky basically. Even BT who provide the line say no too. I'm really confused and this must be wrong that I cannot shop around. Is this against some kind of competition rule that won't allow another provider in? Any help much appreciated.

Have you done a postcode search on samknows? What does it say is available?
If you are in a small village, it's highly possible that most providers don't see it as cost effective to supply there. There isn't a rule that forces providers to supply every area.
It's strange you say you can't get BT though. Did you try through BT's own website or a third party site?0 -
If you have it with SKY them i presume BT/Plusnet should also be able to offer it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Your Local cabinet maybe at capacity, hence all checkers saying that its not available.
A company may be able to do a FTTC takeover, but if any company advises to go to normal BB then upgrade to FTTC later i wouldn't bother as someone in your area will probably grab the free port leaving you on ADSL0 -
You'd need to raise this with someone in non call taking team within BT who have the capability to understand what you're saying and who have the facilities to get in contact with Openreach and BT Wholesale to find out why.
It's most likely a database error.
Check the postcode checker using another house number in your street and see what it comes up with.0 -
You are already on BT, it's them who provide all FTTC services, which they resell to Sky, TT etc. What is likely is that Sky is the only LLU provider on your exchange-a quick search on samknows will list the LLU providers.
It's nothing to do with competition: any provider can unbundle any exchange if they wish-but if they can never foresee getting back the considerable investment required, then they will never do so.
i agree, this is either a database error or a lack of capacity on your street cab, as you should be able to otherwise get fibre from BT, Plusnet and others. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
