Cancellation fee on business for post box!

Hi. My fiance booked a post box for our wedding just over a week ago. A proper cast iron beast it is and costs £45. We found out two days ago that our venue now has one of these (they didn't when we first booked).
I just emailed the guy to say sorry to mess you about but we need to cancel as our venue has one that we didn't know about. It's only a week ago so shouldn't be a problem... or so I thought.
My fiance had signed a form that states that to cancel would mean paying the FULL amount and getting nothing. It's a week since she booked it and it's only £45
What rights as a consumer do we have in this situation? The wedding is rising in cost and only a couple of months away now. Everybody seems to have their hand out for cash!!! I could do with every penny I have at the minute.
Any help will be appreciated

Sorry yeah hired.
It was done through email with this signed form0 -
Also, no money has changed hands0

Did they take payment up front?
If answer no, tell them to swivel. Harsh on the post box provider, but they never asked for the cash up front.0 -
Personally I wouldnt trust any company that seem to only accept BACS payments.
OP whats the website? Were you given any information in a durable format at the time of booking? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I wonder what rights as a business they have. They have bills to pay and everybody wants a slice, every penny counts and all that.0

Out of curiosity, are the company delivering it to the venue as it's so heavy ?
If so, use the box you've paid for from them. At least they'll have to do some work for their £45 then ...0 -
This looks like it might be a 'service related to leisure activities to be supplied on a specific date', and as such is likely to be exempt from the cancellation provisions provided by The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.0
