I totally agree, there's certain people out who are just incapable of using common sense.

I'm glad it's not just me who gets wound up by this! Some people are so witless that I cannot understand how they lived long enough to become an adult without getting squashed or eating something poisonous... :undecided

I remind myself how much worse it was when most people paid by cheque and they'd go through pack their shopping....look vacant then root through their bag for their cheque book, then rummage through again for their cheque card ....then ask for pen.......then write it out very slowly....... hand them over ......and then carefully put them away pick up their shopping and amble off.:mad:

I lay out my stuff as I will be packing it into bags: heavy stuff, graduating to lighter stuff. I scan down the value and get the right money/nearest note bigger than the right amount out, so I can put my purse away. I've my bags ready to pack goods into. Any cards are also in my pocket, having removed the right ones from my purse.

Then, when it's my turn (and I hope the last person isn't still packing/faffing around) I grab each item as it comes through as it's coming in packing order, then hand over the card/money, finally pack the final 2-3 items and get bags into the trolley, before receiving back my card/change and I'm away!

I usually have my stuff sorted in the trolley. Heavy stuff at the back and lighter at the front and unload it onto the conveyor in such a way that I'm putting both heavy and light stuff in each bag to even up the weight distribution. This all goes to pot when the cashier processes it randomly leaving you with all the light stuff so you can't start packing until near the end.

Am I the only one who gets vexed when the person in front doesn't move down with their shopping so effectively ends up standing with the shopping from the person behind you?

And that's why I shop in Aldi, all the stuff is whizzed through and put straight into the trolley so they can clear off to the packing area and spend as long as they like faffing about putting it all into special carrier bags, (Marks & Spencer ones probably) :rotfl:

When i was on the Cabs we'd pick up shoppers outside the supermarket. They knew to the penny what the fare was going to be, they did the same trip every week. You'd get them sitting looking out of the window on the way home and when we got there say, ..... Oh where is my purse. And start going through all the bags. They'd sat there for 10/15 minutes doing nothing.

When I worked on checkouts, I used to feel sorry for the queue of customers stuck behind the customer who insisted on paying with bags of coppers.
I had to empty out each bag and count it all.

Another type of customer who would hold up the queue were the ones (usually men) who expected me to pack all their shopping and just stood there waiting to pay.

What really really annoys me is when the person in front has a long blown out conversation AFTER the shopping has been paid for and goes on to tell what they are doing at the weekend and why she bought this and that, I don't say anything but my dad does lol.

This is so annoying, it prevents people behind from unloading their trolley/basket, or makes it difficult for them..
