Numpties at checkouts

Options
I was held up today by 2 people in the same queue who, on getting to the checkout after waiting for a couple of minutes, both only then seemed to realise that they actually had to pay *then* started rooting about in their bags for their wallet/purse.
Why do people not have a bit of common sense and get their money ready *before* getting to the cashier ? I don't mind waiting for little old dears, they might not want to have their purse out for security reasons but there's not really an excuse for people in their late teens/20s... Grrrr.

    Weird, isn't it?

The very worst person to have in front of you is someone who stands doing nothing whilst the checkout operator is scanning her articles, then, once that's all done, starts packing her items into a dozen different bags according to some complex and time consuming algorithm, then has to root around to find something to pay with. Once all that's done she will not move (so the operator cannot begin processing the next customer), but carefully re-file her card and file the bill into separate compartments. She'll then continue blocking the aisle whilst placing her myriad bags in her trolley.

Admittedly it's rare to encounter someone quite this dozy/selfish so it's almost amusing when it happens.

And it (and most other checkout annoyances) are a thing of the past if your supermarket has self-scan.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

I have a friend who does this all the time, usually hunting for change(never seems to zip her purse up), looking for loyalty card for that shop, keeps receipts for years in her handbag. Makes the comment, "I should have got this out before I got to the counter." I reply, yes. I just stand and roll my eyes as people behind us have to wait for her to find whatever!

The total crap she has in her bag is unbelievable, paper receipts, loose change laying at the bottom of the bag.

The worst is when they have a single item and would have known the price. Then they take ages to count out the money at the till. Why wasn't ready and pre-counted in the queue when they were waiting and had nothing else to do?
  • Same thing at bus stops, wait 15 mins, then, when the bus comes, decide to root about in your purse for change

    they should be shot
(sorry I have zero patience )
NO MORE HANDWASH GLITCHES PLEASE :D:D
  • The other thing is when I go to self service checkouts & the person in front is slow but doesn't put a single thing in any bags as they go (I'm not on about people who use rucksacks etc either). They then pay then pack the whole lot, why??

... and on top of all that, they are usually the person who remembers something they missed and darts off to find it leaving the checkout and all in the queue in a fowl mood!

I totally agree, there's certain people out who are just incapable of using common sense.

I hope I am not in front of any of you at the checkout then!

I would not have my purse out ready to pay before I self pack my own shopping bags. Putting my purse down would lead to an opportunity of theft!

I do get my Tesco points card and coupons out while waiting in the que.
Say hello to check out person and say thank you after paying.

I often have x5 bags to pack.
I shop once a week for the family shop.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)
