I adore white lilies and often buy them. As a florist I have never used black ribbon unless it is for something like a football tribute or something that needs ribboning around a frame (like "mum" for instance.
I'm sorry you were offended by the black ribbon.
Just as an aside, did you cut the stems before you put the lillies into a vase?0
