    Aren't lilies generally funeral flowers anyway, or am I being odd? Surely if simply the colour black is threatening to bereaved people lilies would be the worst idea?
    I adore white lilies and often buy them. They're incredibly popular because they're beautiful flowers & long lasting.

    OP - If you're this distressed over a black ribbon, I hope that nothing really terrible ever happens to you. I don't think you'd be able to cope.

    As a florist I have never used black ribbon unless it is for something like a football tribute or something that needs ribboning around a frame (like "mum" for instance.

    I'm sorry you were offended by the black ribbon.

    Just as an aside, did you cut the stems before you put the lillies into a vase?
