1. Towing too big a job - not enough room in layby at bottom of track and then it is a lane.
2. The site is - http://www.twoc.co.uk/
3. Age to give an idea is 1999 - 2009
4. Did enough with DVLA - costing money for 4 searches. (Each search has to be individually listed on their form.) Two came back with addresses and we sent special delivery letters. Returned to us. Oh! Yes - DVLA said two had No Registered keeper.
5. Police link is interesting but it almost seems like our expense to get them towed away and they have to be available for owner to retrieve!0 -
The local council assuming your in England is responsible for removing any vehicle abandoned in "open air" even when on private land as someone else has already said. Ring your local council they will do the necessary and bear the cost.0

Try contacting the dvla and explaining the situation. Unless the cars are valuable after two years its unlikely anyone will reclaim them. I expect if they did you would only be liable for their scrap value which you will receive when scrapping them. You could counter claim storage and disposal costs from that.0 -

I though you had to SORN these days or they took your car away
I would have a chat with the local vehicle recycling center they must deal with this stuff on a regular basis and might do the council recoveries.0 -
Isn't there a form you can fill out to claim ownership of the cars? Takes a few weeks as they write to the registered keeper first, but if you did that, the keeper would either claim them, or you'd get a legal V5 to do what you want with them.
Another option if you have the space is to move them somewhere so they look to be cleared from the road, or hide them behind something like hay bales and wait to see if anyone contacts you. If they haven't been moved for 2 years I doubt the original owner cares about them, otherwise they'd just have burst the lock and taken them back.0 -
yup you can get a v62 and apply for a log book , ouch , its £25 a pop tho , ok if the scrap man will give you double
sorry , one at once ,one a week , on the road and a call to the police/council/dvla
20 weeks , all done0
