First direct application..martin please help urgentt

hi
i applied for a First Direct Bank account and got declined after 2 weeks. I was quite shocked to hear that, I Called the Customer services and ask for a reason. They told me that i dont fall into their Criteria. My application was not declined because my rating was low or i wasnt on electoral roll but it was because i dont earn enough points from each field i fil in during my application. I am earning 35k/year and currently living at the present address for 2 years. My questions are:
What criteria would they be talking about?
I'm looking to reapply as its been a year now, how would i fill in the fields to ensure i get acceptied this time??
Please give any thoiughts on that
Anyu help will be much appreciated

I would do 2 things - firstly get a copy of your credit report to see if there is anything on there which is wrong and secondly you have to fill the application form truthfully - anything else would be fraudelent.

Who knows what their criteria is ??

If you have been refused once why do you want to try again? is there no other option?

Not helpful Gaydave. Anyway, First Direct will not tell you what their criteria is as each bank has there own way of credit scoring. They will never reveal the process that they use as this could lead to application fraud. It doesn't mean you are not credit worthy, it just means you are not the type of customer First Direct is looking for at the moment.
  • Nationwide flexaccount pays a better rate of credit interest, charges a lower overdraft rate and I think their criteria are easier to meet based on comments I have read (ie first direct are one of the stricter banks).

    M Thomson replied then too.....:D

As he says, it's very unlikely anyone here can give you the exact criteria they use. It could be how stable your career is..a number of reasons. last time you'd only been at your address 1 year. maybe 2 will make a difference now....
