They are absolutely terrible, steer well clear. Overseas call centres have no clue what you are talking about, £1 a minute just makes it worse.

BT are much much better, more expensive yes but absolutely fantastic. I had what I thought was a major problem when I couldnt get my broadband set p. Called the technical number (cant remember how much but wasnt a £1 anyway!), the lady asked my permission to 'take over' my computer, set abou the issue and put it right.

Orange - 12 month contract, roughly 3 calls per month
BT -18 month contract, 1 call so far (since March)

    :)

  • Isn't the terms of this offer that you've got to take a 24 month contract @14.99 per month? And it's £300 off a laptop if you don't want the free one offered. Personally, I don't think it's that good a deal, since Orange broadband isn't the best - in my experience, it went downhill after rebranding from wanadoo, which wasn't as good as when it was freeserve.

Was using new broadband in new laptop which had Vista..
The OP asked for advice on an internet providers service to which I replied with my experience. Orange broadband is slated all over this forum so it's not just me and my 'pc confid' issue , of which there is none :)

Oops forgot to add, the stupid adaptor thing they gave me to 'connect' to my 'livebox' - (was it alive? I cetainly dont think so!) MELTED! When I called them they did not seem too bothered at all, looking back now I should have went mad at them!

Cancelled in March, got new provider. Had letter the other day saying they had been trying to contact me for weeks about an outstanding balance? Apparantly I hadnt used my MAC code so my account was still running. No letters received by myself. How could I get a new provider without using my MAC code I asked? No answer - agent hung up.

Just recieved another letter the other day asking for their box and adaptor back, or else they will charge me £100. LOL i dont think so!!

And all this nearly 5 months after I cancelled!

    Hy
I have been with Wanadoo, now Orange for just over 3 years and had no problems, in fact i was paying £17.99 broadband package but i advise you to ring them if your not happy and ask for a MAC code then when they ask why say you are going with Talk Talk, i did 2 weeks ago as i was considering Talk Talk in an effort to reduce my costs per month, i laid it on and low and behold i was given the £9.99 package but i retained all my current package services for a 12 month contract. Heres the best bit, when i pressed them even more they gave me the first 6 months FREE.
    Hello again
  • Well the offer is 14.99 a month and you get a free (ish) laptop

and i need a new computer (mine is run by hamster on wheels) and i need broadband

hmmmm not sure what to do now!!

I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to Orange with 3 free laptops let alone one do some research before you sign up with this dire company and check out OrangeProblems

I was always happy with freeserve, which then became wanadoo, which then was bought by Orange. Then the problems started. Every few weeks I'd be without BB for a whole day or so, due to an "outage". Trouble is that I need to go online everyday because of my work, so I had to use dialup

Anyway, now apparently it has been sorted as far as I'm concerned and for the last 4 months it's been ok. Thank heaven for that, because I heard that migrating from Orange is a real pig of a job.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

And thats exactly what Orange play on it is easy and straightforward to migrate from Orange to a proper ISP provider most of the time unless they give you a invalid MAC code which they are notorious for.
