Switching and line rental

I've been with BT for over a year on their contract that provides TV as well as fibre broadband and evening and weekend calls. I paid an annual line rental fee in December and am looking at choices.
1/ If I switch to another supplier of phone and Broadband, what happens to the line rental I've paid.
2/ Would it be better to keep the phone line from BT, pay for weekend and evening calls and just switch the broadband- as I've paid the line rental. I use 18866 to prefix all calls so don't pay for any calls during the rest of the time.
3/ Another option is to reduce the monthly bill by removing the TV package, but would that affect any of the internet channels I occasionally watch. I don't watch BT sport so it is no problem doing without that.

Advance line rental pay in advance and get a discount .
You lose it if you cancel.
Problem is tying the line rental end / renew date into a different ISP broadband .Take out broadband now and next December you will have to decide who to supply line rental .0
