Water meter

I'm seriously thinking of having a water meter installed. I'm pretty sure it would save me money. What is slightly worrying me is just where does it go? I don't want it inside messing up the existing plumbing (can't afford to lose any more space). Outside would be perfect.

they are usually located at the external stopcock, so near the boundary of your house plot, NOT inside the house.0

Mine's inside but I suspect that was because they couldn't find the external stopcock, it was easier & I didn't mind.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Mine was also installed inside.
The external stop tap on the pavement serves both our house and the neighbours.
It was fitted just after the internal stop tap and connected via a wire to the reader on the outside wall.0 -
mine is under the sink0

Smack bang in the middle of the front garden. Was going mad when we moved in trying to find it underneath the undergrowth.
Having said that with 4 of us (2 kids) in a 4 bed house its actually working out cheaper than the old house without a meter.....i hope. Must check the readings again.;0 -
It's a flat, small purpose built 1960s block. I have no idea where the stopcock is. I shall have to go hunting. Possibly the reason I haven't found it is because one stopcock serves the whole building (?)0

In that case it'll probably go inside, never mind, they're not that big.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Ours was just outside our gate where the stopcock was located. The first bill showed it would cost three times the usual amount and as we had a year to change back to the non-metered system that's what we did.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Interesting... The water company estimated from our modest usage (2 adults, 1 toddler), that the. Saving would be marginal or even non existent. I was quite surprised.
Can you give me mor win formation what you are/were paying? We pay 45.09 direct debit a month.0 -
