has anyone used mercury direct?

Are you in a city where customers are just numbers or a very small place where they think they have no competition, I can't believe their replies, like I said its easy business, Mercury at the moment are paying each travel agent who makes a booking £10 (those you've spoken too obviously don't know). Don't bank on the co op points they didn't pay out last year and you don't get them until you've returned from your trip, you should be able to find an agent who'll give you £100 off.0

am in a small town, tho we do have 3 travel agents. Will give them a few days & see who comes back with what. then ask each to beat each other's offer. then take booking from there.
the mercury quote is already an improvement on others as they were all coming out £4.5k plus.
Have to add on visas, passport, insurance, airport lounge, taxi & vacinations on to this yet.
Am hoping for a reasonably priced, but memorable (for the right reasons) holiday

so far they have come in cheapest (£3590)
with titan being £4398 + cambodia
H+J £5539
wendy wu £5340
Other companies who do escorted tours are:
Voyages Jules Verne

CTS Horizons

We used CTS for a 27 day tour of China, they were very good.
Are you sure you are comparing apples & apples with your quotes?
For example:
same hotels?
same number of nights?
same places visited?
meals included?
entrance fees included?0 -

yes pretty much apples for apples quotes. The hotels aren't the same, but are of same standard. Each tour is slightly different, but on the whole takes in similar things (tho it may be on different days).
We looked for tours that visited places we wanted to go, the hotels are 4*, meals are included etc.
We discounted tours such as STA as they were land only & we'd then have to add flights in & that actually made some of them more expensive than the all in quotes.when life gives you lemons, stick them in your top & pretend you have pointy boobs.

I decided to email our local travel agents to see if they could match the mercury quote. not holding out much hope tho.
I spend my life asking for quotes to be honest
I went with Travelbag to Cost Rica too in December & it all went fine. Again though their prices are creeping up, same as everyone I suppose. I'm looking at Holiday Genie at the moment as their prices are coming in cheaper than Travelbag. I was looking at this too as it seemed like a brilliant offer https://travelbird.co.uk/order/45075/vietnam-round-trip/ Good Luck! 0 -

the problem I had with the travel bird offer is that they are not abta/atol registered & as such we would have little protection if it did go belly up.when life gives you lemons, stick them in your top & pretend you have pointy boobs.

Sorry, & thanks, I didn't know that. I've just rang them up & they said that they're in the process of it. When I asked how long it would take before they were ATOL protected, they said not sure but about a few months. Wouldn't insurance cover it at all?0

You would have to ask your insurer... preferably before paying for anything.0 -

vacinations (I've been told to consider rabies!! & malaria)
