has anyone used mercury direct?

we have a quote from them regarding a vietnam & cambodia tour for oct 2015.
so far they have come in cheapest (£3590)
with titan being £4398 + cambodia
H+J £5539
wendy wu £5340

the holiday is to celebrate big birthday & wedding anniversary. All of the quotes include uk flights, internal travel, meals & trips.
The mercury holiday looks good. I'm just wondering if it worth spending the extra or if Mercury will be fine to travel with?

Yes, I went to Sri Lanka with them a few years ago as they were really cheap compared to some. Although I've noticed that their prices are creeping up, especially the tours! I'd definitely book with them again if the price was right, documents were sent through the post within 3 days of booking, I had an email & phone number to contact them, & everything went really well.

Travelbag are quite good too, & I've booked with them a few times. I did (not a tour) but a multi-trip to Thailand with them last year & we had a great time.
  • thanks, I've asked for a quote from travel bag too.

I decided to email our local travel agents to see if they could match the mercury quote. not holding out much hope tho.

Mercury Direct are now called just Mercury, I know Thomas Cook sell them I don't know which other agents do. If you contact a TC shop with your quote i'm almost certain they will give you a discount probably between 3-5% or something free ie parking at the airport, airport lounge, insurance etc.
If the shop you try says no try another, i'd give you a discount its easy business you've done all the work, know what you want and all I've got to do is process the booking and take payment, Happy days.

1 of the travel agents said they would look into it & another said they could match the price plus give us points (co-op). It's only 1% for the points but still better than nothing & will subsidise the lounge booking
