Using Kayak - How trustworthy are Expedia/edreams/opodo?

Hi all
Couple of questions from me, I have done a search etc but still a little wary/confused.
Looking to go to the USA later this year, plan is:
London -> Atlanta 23rd Sept (AM)
Atlanta -> Orlando 28th Sept (PM)
Orlando -> London 11th Oct (EVE) - (dont mind indirect on this leg)
1st Question) I have a big preference for flying with Virgin, now on Kayak it says the above trans atlantic legs are 'Delta flights operated by Virgin Atlantic' which appear to be much cheaper than ordinary Virgin flights. Does this mean they will be Virgin flights in all but name?
2nd Question) I've read some horror stories online about edreams, and understand they bought opodo 2yrs ago who have since followed that horror trend, from price changes, multiple scheduled flight changes, and even confirmation emails sent out and money taken for flights not even booked with the airlines themselves (and then opodo washing their hands of it all) - SO my question there is do people on here have any information on these operators, are they just brokers/chancers?
When I tried booking through Expedia, at least they state when you try progressing with the booking 'oh the flight price could not be confirmed, here is the new price' and up it jumped £150 for the same itinerary.
So I'm left a bit confused what to do. Virgin's site doesn;t offer the multicity stuff from what I can see (and is pricey) Delta offers mid £700's for the package (and no info at first about virgin operated flights) and these options from Kayak are coming in at £438....so hard not to take a look at them!
Thoughts?

An example of what I mean, the image on the right shows the change in flight price, the image on the left I think is basically the exact same flights, (rotating between virgin or delta branding) yet cheaper....so odd

Seems to be the exact same flight? same operators same flight numbers and times etc0 -
Avoid Opodo, eDreams and their other companies.
Expedia is Ok if they offer you a Special fare that the airlines' websites can't beat.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Are we seeing the same image?
I see the first one showing return (Delta) flight leaving at 15.05 with 1 stop into LHR and on the second one the return (Virgin) flight leaving at 19.35 direct into LGW2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

have a look at Google Flights (they tend to not show the false non-live agents pricing)
There are flights around the £550 mark on Delta (with stop on the way back)
If you prefer Virgin and Direct flights for the long hauls you are looking at £622 for your dates - sample VS 103, DL 2545, VS 160
