Talk Talk package deal

Hi All

today i have signed up to the broadband and phone deal talk talk are offering.

If you are not already signed up to quidco it is worth doing as you if you sign up via there link then you can recieve upto £32 cashback.

if any of you do take this deal up please please will you let me know if you have any problem with the online registration on the talk talk site. I did and as such ended up ordering over the phone, they have allegedly put a note on the system so I should recieve a credit.

does anyone already have talk talk broadband, or AOL? if so is it reliable?

thanks lots
Eljay x

I think it's very unlikely you'll get a quidco credit if you ended up doing the transaction over the phone.

We have TalkTalk phone and broadband; it's far faster than what we had before, but it does disconnect a lot more - and I mean a lot, like half a dozen times in an evening sometimes. I've not got round to complaining about it yet.

The phone line quality is definitely worse than it was on BT too, but it's good enough.

In that case I will push talk talk for a credit to be put on my bill, I did try to t re register on line but it agin would not allow me this ime because it was already updated with my upgrade. Grrrr

Hi, please be very careful. From speaking to lots of people the majority of those that had problems with their TalkTalk were upgrading from an existing provider and/or ordered over the phone. Be sure to take detailed notes of dates/times of calls, names of advisors (this really saved me as they were able to trace the exact agent and call from my notes) and also carefully read all documentation that's sent to you.

Good luck and I hope all goes well.

There's no reason for TalkTalk to pay you a referral credit when you've bought your service from them over the phone. I would rate your chances of getting this credit as "between nil and nothing" to crib a phrase from someone else on MSE!

We were interested in signing up to talktalk, what with the promise of free broadband, with speeds of up to 8meg, and the fact that my aunt seemed to find it ok. We took the dive almost a year ago, and today (FINALLY) we get our broadband connected!! A YEAR LATER!!!

There i was thinking we would be getting download speeds of between 1 and 6megs, but im VERY disappointed at how low the speeds are. Speed tests are coming in at 700-900kbps!! :( Severely disappointed, seeing as this is slower than our previous supplier! I live 2 miles from the exchange, and i dont really get why its slower!!

2 miles is a relatively long distance from the exchange.

What connection speed does your PC show?

I get between 5.8Mbps and 6.2Mbps and I live a mile from our exchange at the very most.

Between 70-100 kB/sec, pretty much the same as i was gettin on a 1meg line, but this drops more frequently. Didnt think 2 miles was far! o well...
