Halifax credit card issues

If that is the case I would write a letter explaining the situation telling them what you have done already and ask them how it can be resolved. Also ask for assurances that your credit file will be updated as this is not your fault that they refuse to except such a small payment. Put the ball in their court to sort it out.0

Give them a five pound note and get three pounds change. That way they are not accepting any coins.0

That's the problem with all these ex-building societies.
Say what you like about HSBC, but I know the branch nearest to me would accept 80 sixpence coins to pay a £2 credit card bill. They might get peeed off if you tried this while there was a long queue though.0 -
Have you tried another branch? My branch says they won't accept payments in coins of > £5 or bags of coins unless a children's account, but I can (and have) paid in a mixture of notes and coins, and they haven't had issues with that.
The point is to stop people carrying in bags and bags of change and paying them in. That's not what you're trying to do, so it may be worth speaking to someone with a different branch manager who sympathises with your situation!0 -
What did your most recent monthly statement say?Gavinbattersby wrote: »They never informed me of any intention to close the acount, never informed me the acount was behind or chased any payment.
All of the above comments about inability to make a payment (via whatever means) are effectively irrelevant if the fundamental issue is that the account is closed, but if it's closed then why would they send a statement advising you to pay £2?0 -

Complain now, loudly and persistently. These will have an impact on your ability to get credit for a considerable time, (including perhaps a mortgage!!) for £2. Yet it sounds like they may technically have been correct to do so.
This sounds crackers, tbh on your part just as much as theirs!
Why crackers on the OP's part? He has clearly been trying to pay this at his branch like a lot of people will.
OP
You need to write a letter of complaint to the bank explaining what you have been trying to do and also to ask them to remove the late payment markers from your credit file. You have made concerted efforts to pay this sum, but have not been allowed by your bank branch. Following the reply from your bank you can take this to the Ombudsman for review if you are unhappy with their response0 -
Take your Halifax credit card to a Lloyds branch, and as a real bank, will accept the payment.0
