Halifax credit card issues

Had a Halifax credit card for 9 years. Had issues in the past with payments made in branch not being forwarded straight to account. Now I owe then TWO POUNDS and struggle to pay this in branch because it's only TWO POUNDS as they only accept coin payments to childrens accounts. Now I have three, yes three negative reports on my experian file because of this that will remain on file for SIX years. Anyone else had similar issue? Any advice?

    Pay the damn two pounds!!

Complain now, loudly and persistently. These will have an impact on your ability to get credit for a considerable time, (including perhaps a mortgage!!) for £2. Yet it sounds like they may technically have been correct to do so.

This sounds crackers, tbh on your part just as much as theirs!

  • Made numerous attempts to pay the amount. Don't accept payments via debit card on credit card accounts and can't pay such a small amount over the counter as they don't accept coins unless it's a deposit to a child's account. Can't pay online or by bank transfer as they now say the acount is closed. Was advised, obviously incorrectly in branch to spend on the credit card so I could make a larger payment which I can't do as they say the acount has been closed. Customer services didn't seem to be able to give me an answer or way forward. Have never been in debt, used an overdraft or been behind with a mortgage payment or loan/finance payment. They never informed me of any intention to close the acount, never informed me the acount was behind or chased any payment.

the way to do it is to Pay Them from your current account. just get the details from them, and send the payment To Them rather than asking them to Take Them. that way, your payments arrive, and are allocated to your account, whether they like it or not:)

andy does have a point. there is no way you should be putting yourself in this position.

check with Halifax first (bearing in mind that they aren't going to refuse to provide you with the information) but i suspect you will be able to wire funds to your Halifax Credit Card (or arrange in-branch, at your bank) using:
    Sort Code: 05-00-22
    Account Number: 72819472
    Reference: Your Card Number
  • Done the bank transfer but as they say the acount is closed they won't credit the payment against the card as the ref for the transfer is the card number that they say doesn't exist anymore
  • I can't be the only person with this problem. I have no problem paying my bills just a problem getting them to accept such a small payment that will pay the full amount owed

How were you going to make £2 payment in a branch to a closed account then?
  • Tried to make the payment but got told they can't accept it. They wouldn't even process it. The problems only came to light when I tried to get them to issue a new pin so I could spend on the card to be able to make a larger payment
