If there was compulsory training for cyclists, would that put you off cycling?

To be fair, I think it was a reasonable decision as there's not that many cycling or public transport topics, the forum already has a huge number of sections and while there's little overlap between the two topics the two can clearly co-exist without issue. The problem comes from people who seem to have nothing better to do with their time than come in here and have a go at cyclists and in some regards I think a dedicated cycling section would be worse as it would be more of a target.

I think it works well. When it was mixed with the motoring section every cycling related thread became a platform for motorists to moan about cyclists. Some were fully justified but many were just ill informed bigoted rants about the existence of cyclists. It made every thread very tedious.

You contribute on here with derogatory comments about cyclists and are disappointed when you don't get the argument you hoped for.

Oh really? So you (and your little forum club) would rather not have any negative points or comments made about the type of cyclist which gives responsible cyclists (like yourself) an bad rep?
Cyclists on this board aren't condoning irresponsible cycling. Its the expectation that we need to be seen to be condemning it that is unwelcome.

Would you appreciate having every motoring misdemeanor being shoved in front of you with a demand to condone or condemn it?.

Tilt - why do you feel that I am personally responsible for the actions of someone I've never met because we happen to choose a similar mode of transport?
    It's only numbers.

As a motorist, your reputation is in tatters. Why doesn't your little forum club focus on the millions of bad drivers who give responsible motorists (like yourself) such a bad name?

Is this forum then all just about the "fluffy clouds" and bees and honey side of cycling?

    This is worth a bump.

    Tilt,
In light of your above attitude which seeks to blame good cyclists for the behaviour of poor cyclists, it comes as no surprise that you make this comment:-

"...seeing as you are a fully fledged responsible and competent cyclist, one of the motorists that gave you "due consideration" could [STRIKE]of[/STRIKE] have been me!"

This paragraph, and your inability to answer Marco's point (which many of us have asked before) leave us with no room to doubt that your prejudice against cyclists leads to a discriminatory attitude while driving, ie you give less consideration to those who are less competent or novice cyclists.

    You really should be ashamed.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

    Not disappointed, amused!

Seriously my "derogatory comments" as you call them, are not aimed at the exclusive cycle club here. Plus I am not here to get an argument as I can't see an argument in favour of reckless cycling.

Even one of your own finds it necessary to produce a whole series of episodes of "Silly Cycling" clips on You Tube to high light more or less what I have bought to this board as observations. (One such clip I have posted below for your amusement. And no, the poster is not a relative of mine!)

Now this guy is spot on in highlighting the type of cycling in London by some who obviously need "training".

Why do you think I think you are "personally responsible"? Are you not capable of holding a debate about the subject? After all this thread is about training?

My "reputation is in tatters"? Lol, with you guys? Doubt if I will sleep tonight now.

I do equally criticise irresponsible motorists on the motoring forum. Also on other social media in my own area, I "attack" in particular drivers parking on zig zag markings outside a local primary school which is a common occurrence.

I'm not sure what planet you are on tbh. I also am beginning to suspect whether in fact you are a police officer because contrary to the belief of some, I actually think (in most cases anyway) that police officers are an intelligent breed.

But from your above assumption (and it is exactly that), I am left wondering why you are putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5. You are obviously not astute in interpreting correctly what my comment was about or you are being selective about it to suit your point of view and to promote it to others.

You obviously assume from my comment that my driving style when negotiating cyclists, is dependent on how responsible they are riding.... how very narrow minded of you.
