did some updating to the thread the other day as it happens, removed the link to AVG anti spyware (think they are about to charge for it) and replaced that with Superantispyware.....

AVG is still free - just need to download the updated freebie. good as ever!

Ad-Aware is excellent for getting rid of Adware. Install it again, and press "Cancel" when you're asked for a license key. This will give you a free license with real-time protection disabled. There is no need to remove SUPERantispyware as well, as Anti-spyware programs generally coexist in peace.

That's what we did and do!!

Yup - just click 'cancel' when asked for license key and free edition will install - no problems...

In case anyone missed my post above - AVG is still free. There was no more support or updates for the old version. But go to the website and download the NEW free version. I cant recommnd AVG enough and also Spybot - been using just these 2 for years - excellent software.:T

I used to use AVG myself and never had problems (I use NOD32 now). But I must admit that I'm starting to see what Donnie keeps going on about that there do seem to be more posts from people along the lines of "help have trojan infection, have AVG installed".
