So basically my sister and her partner are having a joint christening of their 2 daughters and marriage and I'm stuck on gift ideas or what the etiquette of gift giving is at something like this, do I get the one gift for the whole family? Or treat them like theyre 2 seperate occasions? What about the girls? Do I get them a gift and card each or one to share? Anybody had or been to something like this that can help? I'm so confused

She's your sister, why not ask her? It's quite an unusual scenario. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

I hanker after the days when a wedding was a ceremony to celebrate the union of two people.
Then, years later, the Christenings - one at a time, whilst the children are babies. Not just for show so that they can wear pretty clothes and have a party.
If the parents really 'believed' then the children would have been Christened well before now.:hello:0 -

This ^^^
So much fuss made these days over weddings AND Christenings!
I also think that baby should have been Christened ages ago.
FWIW to the OP: I would give 2 gifts. Well one each to the babies for their Christenings, and a gift to the couple for the wedding. What on earth could you buy that is a 'joint' gift for an adult couple, and two babies? :huh:cooeeeeeeeee :j :wave:0 -
They're only just doing this now because they couldn't afford to before now, not everyone can afford a christening straight away! Plus some people dont get christened until they are adults so i dont see what the big deal is.
as a joint present I was thinking of a photo frame so they can have a family wedding/christening picture all together. Also only one of the children is a baby the other child is 5 years old which is why it's difficult to know what to get.Wins: Cushelle Koala, Mama tea bundle, coconut ice cream recipe book0 -

Oh come on, Christenings aren't expensive and if the parents REALLY 'believed' then they would have prioritised the blessings above everything else.
Christenings and marriages are not about the parties and the dresses - they are about the commitment.:hello:0 -
£375 is expensive when you don't earn a lot of money! As that is the price they are paying to have the christening, only reason they are getting married as well is because the vicar asked them if they wanted to marry as well so they thought why not!
It was originally just going to be the blessings and straight home but decided to do what most people do and make a day of it, who cares how they're doing it!?!Wins: Cushelle Koala, Mama tea bundle, coconut ice cream recipe book0 -
Christenings cost a couple of quid for the vicar, the bells and whistles, lights and music that parents clamp onto them cost whatever they're daft enough to shell out for..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Good grief - I don't think a church wedding is for them, if that's their attitude.:hello:0 -
