Delayed flight 2008 Jet2 Majorca - Belfast

Had over 24 hr delay after flight from Majorca was cancelled in Oct 2008, after discovering we could claim compensation I wrote to Jet 2 in Jully 2014(within the 6 year rule) they wrote back and basically acknowled my letter then eventually informed me that they had appealed the court decision and until this had been settled they would keep my letter on file and would respond after that. After several more letters from myself following the appeal decision they told me I was out of time as the ruling was 6 years. I wrote back arguing that I assumed my claim had been initiated when I first wrote to them in July 14. They have written back saying court action has to be taken within the 6 years is this ?correct and is there much sense in pursuing it further.

Yes they are correct, you have to start court action within the time period.

I think they used deliberate delaying tactics by not writing to me again until I was out of time.

Yes and you are not the only person this has happened to.


It's a pity you didn't come on here earlier, we would have told you to start court proceeding before your time was up. They would have been stayed but once started you would have had your foot in the door.

The only thing left for you Fredo is to report them to the CAA for their dishonesty.
Not that it'll get you any money.
