I do believe that there are some genuine cases but as for the others they are only kidding themselves I would much rather send my child to the local secondary than put them into a grammer school under false pretences0

SC has always existed and was in use long before AQE and GL were ever dreamt of however, it has been reported that more and more parents are trying to 'abuse' the SC process each year since AQE and GL came into being. School Principals are said to be very aware of this and from a few parents I 've heard of who were hoping to hang their hat on it, they were surprised to find that their cases were roundly rejected - in my opinion quite rightly so in all cases. Schools Principals & Boards of Governors seem determined to uphold the integrity of the SC process for those few kids that are really deserving of it. For any case where a child was upset or unwell in 1 of the 3 AQE papers, that is not considered SC as only 2 papers count and in reality any kid could choose to do only 2 papers and some kids do only do 2 papers. Even parents who are claiming some educational needs, must have written proof & diagnosis from a recognised and listed (for the purposes of transfer test) child educational psychologist. So for anyone who is worried that all these applications for SC might disadvantage their child who has no SC, I would say that you have nothing to worry about. Just remember this, most Principals want to take in the highest scoring kids in rank order and SC cases are only accepted if the few additional marks they are given brings them close to the cut off for their chosen school so if they have a really low score, being awarded a few additional SC points is unlikely to get them in.0

No closing date has passed but the more I'd thought I'd rather he gets there on his score rather than being made up with extra points because he will
Have to cope harder in grammar then0 -
Oh I agree genuine reasons is accepted and it should only be used if just under the school
Score or what's the point
But in the gl if you do one paper and have a wobble or whatever you are asked if you want to continue and if second paper is completed then that' should be marked as an official exam
If your child's nerves go or perform it as well them surely that would be an indication that maybe grammar route isn't the best route
The stigma and status of grammar is a complete joke my child's mental health I think is more important and my own lol k have hated this whole experience0 -
Just new to this forumas my 2nd DD is sitting this year. My 1st DD sat it last year and is year 8 at local grammar. Feel for you all...and NOT looking forward to doing it all again!0
