I'm glad you are so trusting of the system but I find it hard to agree with your views based on my own discussions with other parents who have boasted about successfully taking advantage of the SC system, and in some cases going to very extreme measures to do so.

In addition, whilst school principals may be aware of this abuse I suspect that some are not as trustworthy as you like to think when it comes to the transfer test. Their integrity has already been called into question for allowing children to be prepared for the transfer test during school hours. What makes you think they wouldn't also use the SC system to benefit?

Unfortunately as long as we have unregulated tests with a lack of transparency regarding SC, lack of transparency in the normalisation process, coaching during teaching time, and the ever widening divide between those who can afford to tuition and those who cannot then the current transfer system will remain flawed.

We have been lacking the political leadership to tackle this issue for a long time and there seems no prospect of anyone standing up and ensuring that every child is treated fairly and equally - everyone is happy to carry muddling along with their head in the sand

Just remember this, most Principals want to take in the highest scoring kids in rank order and SC cases are only accepted if the few additional marks they are given brings them close to the cut off for their chosen school so if they have a really low score, being awarded a few additional SC points is unlikely to get them in.
